"Something Completely Different..."

This page is different from my other two television-oriented domains (lassieweb.org and rememberwenn.org)/individual series' pages, which are (except for the Ask the Manager page) pretty much episode guides with reviews/comments/bloopers. This one's character-driven instead and includes fanfic links, a list of Goren and Eames episodes (and the eps Eames appears in sans Goren), screencaps I've done for Facebook, and those maddening post-series stories that keep beating on my forehead screaming to come out.

A funny thing happened during an economy move: in going from Dish's high-tier to lowest, we lost our "go-to when nothing else is on" channels: Smithsonian, National Geographic Wild, etc./programs like Aerial America, The Incredible Dr. Pol and other vet shows, North Woods Law, etc. With minimal choices left, we discovered WEtv and Sundance were running Law & Order, an old favorite, plus one of L&O's several spinoff series, Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The latter we'd watched a few times when it was on the network. James always jokingly called Goren "Detective Twitchy," and we'd come home from some event and there would be Bandit (the budgie), or Pigwidgeon after him, or Schuyler after Pidgie, watching "Detective Twitchy."

WEtv and Sundance each had two days a week where they showed LOCI, so we started tuning in occasionally. Then deliberately—yes, I was hooked. Some television shows have a pair of leads so stellar you can't imagine them any other way. Don Adams/Barbara Feldon on Get Smart, Robert Conrad and Ross Martin The Wild Wild West, The Good Life's Richard Briers/Felicity Kendal, Amanda Naughton/Kevin O'Rourke on Remember WENN are just a few examples of this "lightning in a bottle" type of relationship, and Goren and Eames as portrayed by D'Onofrio and Erbe are one of the Top Ten Perfectly Cast Pairs of All Time. So I graduated from watching a few episodes a couple of days a week to "mainlining" the entire series in order on the streaming service Peacock, to arrive at the eventual horrible panic of "what if Peacock pulls it (or decides to charge for it) and I lose these two?" (unthinkable!) whereupon I bought the entire DVD set for myself for my birthday (not to mention joining three LOCI Facebook groups—the original intent for this page was to collect all the screencaps I've been posting on Facebook).

Then the characters started talking to me; surprising because I'd been in a fanfic drought since I penned my last Doctor Simon Locke fanfic in 2015. I tried to fend them off by reading fanfiction, which occupied me for the first half of October 2021 (thanks to WEtv, Sundance, and streaming, fresh Goren and Eames fic is still turning up, so I'm not the only addicted soul here). But my stuff was all post-series, and the supporting characters starting creating themselves right and left (down to the dog). I'm afraid anyone who reads them is going to say they're complete rubbish, but...well, maybe you'll like "Sam"...
